Why teams look for a Trello alternative

Trello is loved for its simplicity: boards, lists, cards and drag and drop. A good replacement keeps that lightness and fixes the thing that made you look elsewhere. Usually it is one of three things.

  • Free plan limits. Trello Free allows up to 10 collaborators and up to 10 boards per Workspace. A growing team runs out of boards first.
  • Views and planning. Calendar, Timeline, Table and Dashboard views are in Premium. If you need dates and dependencies, you may want a tool built around them.
  • Work does not start on the board. Clients and teammates write in a messenger, and someone copies those messages into cards later. The board lags behind the conversation.

How to choose: five questions

  1. How many people will use it. Free plans range from 2 users to unlimited members. Count your team with six months of growth.
  2. Do you need your old boards. If the archive matters, check whether the tool imports from Trello and move one test board before you pay.
  3. How pricing scales. Per user or per workspace. As the team grows, that matters more than the entry price.
  4. What you need besides a board. Gantt charts, time tracking, docs, sprints. More modules means a longer rollout.
  5. Where tasks come from. If most work starts in Telegram chats, how a task reaches the board matters more than how many views the board has.

Jira: for software teams with sprints

Jira is built around issues, sprints and custom workflows. The Free plan covers up to 10 users with 2 GB of storage. Tydy: a kanban board that fills itself from Telegram

Tydy solves a different part of the problem. If your team’s tasks arrive as Telegram messages, screenshots and voice notes, Tydy connects to the work group and proposes creating or updating a task. Uncertain changes are not applied automatically. They wait for a person in the AI Inbox.

Tasks live in projects on a kanban board with your own columns, labels, priorities, assignees and due dates. When a task has a due date and an assignee, the bot messages the assignee in Telegram a day and an hour before the deadline and once when it is overdue. They can complete the task or move the date right from the message. This works on every plan, Free included.

Pricing is per workspace, not per member: Free 0 ₽ (up to 2 members, 3 projects), Pro 990 ₽ per month (up to 5 members), Team 2,990 ₽ per month (up to 15 members). Yearly billing saves 17%. Payment is in roubles via YooKassa.

What a team of 8 pays per month

A typical small team: 8 people, several projects, one shared board. Entry prices from the official pages as of Nov 2, 2026, annual billing, no add-ons.

ToolPlan that fitsPer month for 8 people
TrelloFree (10 boards max) or Standard$0 or $40
AsanaStarter (Personal is for 2 users)$87.92
ClickUpFree Forever or Core$0 or $72
JiraFree (up to 10 users)$0
TydyTeam (Pro is up to 5 members)2,990 ₽ per workspace

As the team grows, per-user tools add cost with every new person, while Tydy Team costs the same for any team of up to 15 members.

How to move off Trello without losing work

  1. Back up first. Export the boards that matter while you still use the account.
  2. Clean up. Close stale cards and archived lists. Move only live work.
  3. Test one board. Check that members, due dates, attachments and comments survived the move.
  4. Agree on how tasks enter. Someone creates them by hand, a form sends them in, or they come from the work chat.
  5. Set a switch date. From that day new tasks go only into the new tool, and Trello stays as an archive.

Which Trello alternative to pick

  • Projects with dates and handoffs. Asana Starter.
  • One tool for tasks, docs and time tracking. ClickUp.
  • Software team with sprints. Jira.
  • Just need more boards. Stay on Trello and move to Standard.
  • Work arrives in Telegram chats. Tydy: tasks come from the conversation and deadline reminders arrive in the same Telegram.

See how Tydy differs from Trello, Notion and Jira on the comparison page and in our post on running team tasks in Telegram. We covered columns and WIP limits in kanban board for teams, free plans in free task trackers for teams, and Asana in Asana alternatives.
